My husband is a permanent resident of Sweden and I was under the impression that once my husband becomes a PR of Canada he would lose his PR in Sweden. Is this true or not??? Can he hold permanent residency in two different countries?

Huh. I think that depends on the laws in Sweden. Nothing in Canada says you need to give up PR statuses from other countries, so if he does lose his PR, it will be because Sweden said so, not Canada.

This is a more question for a forum dealing with immigration to Sweden.

You wouldn't lose Canadian PR automatically if you get one in another country. You'll allowed to be out of Canada for up to 3 years out of every 5 and during that absence, you can pick up as many PR statuses abroad as you want. Not all countries have such a status for people though.

As I said in the other thread, according to Migrationsverket your husband will lose his Swedish PR if he moves to another country to live.

Otherwise he'd lose his PR after twelve years of absence from Sweden unless there were some extraordinary circumstances.

it's difficult to maintain the PR status in two countries if both of them require 3 years stay in the country. for example US green card and Canadian PR will not work together.

Also note that the Swedish residence permit expires at the same date as the passport it is in.
