Hi all,

My most wonderful, most amazing, most loving, most caring, irreplaceable girlfriend has applied for FSW two years ago. At last, she did her meds a week ago. As an insurance policy, however, she intends to also submit a CEC application while her FSW is still in process. She has been living in Canada for 11 years and has a 5-year full-time work experience at a famous Canadian bank. She's heard CEC is faster and less scurrilous to time.

My questions:

1. Is there any issue if she submits a CEC while her FSW is still in process?
2. If her FSW gets approved, or rather, if she's asked to send her passport, what should she do with the CEC? Or, what happens in that case?
3. Any thoughts from you?

Thanks in advance!

No issues, it's OK.

Whichever one is approved first, the other must be withdrawn prior to finalization (a written letter requesting withdrawal of the other application is sufficient).

Thanks, jes_ON.

Would you advise her to send a CEC application now that her meds shall be received by the office? (I think her file got transferred to Los Angeles in April and will probably remain there.) I'd assume that within the next 5 months, the office will request her passport. The CEC might take up to 10-12 months, right? Is there any chance the FSW PPR may be delayed for more than 5 months?

I agree that in all likelihood, the FSW application will be completed sooner than a new CEC application. But there are no guarantees... Since there would be no refund of the application fee or other expenses, I'd say it just depends on how she feels about spending/potentially wasting that extra money...

Indeed, but when it comes to such serious matters, spending and potentially risking a refund are minor worries for many people, I'd suppose. Thanks!
