The subject title says it all really. It might be a stupid question but to be honest any question that comes up in my head nowadays I have to find the answer. Sorry :'(

So my spouse, and sponsor, may need to travel out of Canada during my application for Permanent Residency. My application just arrived with CIC last week, so that means there is a good while to wait until a decision is made.

I am applying inland, so I know for myself I shouldn't be leaving the country until everything is finalised. But just wonder if she travels during the processing time, will this hinder anything?

Many Thanks,
James

Is your sponsor a Canadian citizen or a Canadian Permanent Resident? I believe citizen sponsors can travel freely, but PR sponsors are supposed to remain in Canada for the duration of the application.

Canadian citizen sponsors can come and go as they please.

PR sponsers have to be in the country. That being said if they need to leave the country now and then for a reasonable amount of time for example a 2 week vacation, it will not likely raise any red flags.
