Hi,

I am on the home stretch. I am an Australian citizen married to a Canadian living in Hong Kong. I received a forwarded email from my lawyer dated the 9th of March requesting that l submit photos and a copy of my passport (AUS) so l can be sent Confirmation of Permanent Residence. As l do not need an ETA l sent the information to the Hong Kong Consultant. It was received on the 27th of March. I have not heard anything. Our lawyer thinks it is taking too long and is wanting $$ to check in for us.

I am stressed as our work in Hong Kong is finishing in 4 weeks. Can my lawyer find out what is going?

I am wondering if l am able to fly to Canada, land as a visitor while l wait for the Confirmation of Permanent Residence or will l be rejected on landing and place my application in jeopardy?

If so would l need to fly back to Hong Kong pick it up and then re-enter with the document or change my residential address and mailing address to Canada?

there are several posts on this question already. Feel free to seek them out and find a wealth of responses.

Sure it's usually no problem at all to enter Canada as a visitor while waiting for your PR app to finish processing. Just show CBSA upon entry proof of your PR app in progress, and that you want to wait out the process in Canada but will abide by visitor rules.

When your PR app is completed, visa office will mail your COPR to the address on record. If you come to Canada and change your address, it may take a while to be registered with the visa office so there's a good chance it will be mailed to your Hong Kong address still. If there is someone at that address who can receive it, they could then courier the COPR docs to you in Canada.
