Hi,

1) I am a It project manager for 1 year. Can I apply as a skilled worker under NOC 1122 ?

Thanks

Yes - you can apply with one year of full-time experience.

However the cap for NOC 1122 was reached back in July and they are not accepting more applications at this time.

If you want to apply now, you will need a job offer in Canada to qualify. Otherwise you can wait until July 1st when the cap is reset and hope that NOC 1122 is still on the list of desired occupations.

Thanks my frnd, I just wanted to make sure that I can apply as NOC 1122. Even being an IT Manager.

Not really. IT Managers fall under NOC 0213 which not on the list of "29"

That's right. Even though 1122 is a fairly generic NOC, since IT manager does have its own explicit 0213 NOC the assessing officer will almost certainly decide that your duties are more aligned to the 0213 NOC and therefore you won't be eligible under FSW1 at this time.

You do, however, have options:

1) You can wait until July this year and see if CIC announce any changes to list of occupations eligible for FSW1. Although nothing has been officially announced, it is widely anticipated that at least some changes will be made, and it is not impossible that IT-related NOCs will be back on the list.

2) You can try to secure a job offer from a Canadian employer and apply under FSW2.

Given how fairly close we are to July, in your position I would probably wait until July, and then if there are no occupations matching your work experience, try to see about secure a job offer.

Best of luck,
Wayne.

Best of luck,

Thanks Wayne for a detailed nice reply, But is that mean , now IT people irrespective of whether they are developer/manager/consultant can not apply as a skilled worker? So no hope for IT Canada Immigration left at all :-[

Many Thanks,

Yes true.At present their no NOC for IT AND COMPUTERS

INDIAN

So anyone has any example where an IT person got his/her PR as a skilled worker recently by applying thru other NOC like 1122?
Or we can consider the chances for IT is totally doomed.
