Hello,

My PR application is confirmed. I understand that I will have to visit Canada once to get PR card. How long will I have to wait before I can start working. Can I work on PR confirmation Letter or I need to wait for the PR card to arrive.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Until you actually “land” you aren’t a PR. You’ll have to wait.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, after I land and give the interview at the airport. Am I allowed to work ? Thanks. Or I need to get the actual PR card to arrive for authorization to work ? Thanks

All you need is a SIN.
The SIN can identify you as a PR, so that's the only real requirement to work legally, not a PR card.

You land, give the interview, get the CoPR signed and stamped. Then, go to the nearest Service Canada office and get a SIN number using your CoPR and passport. This can be done on the same day or the next day. It takes about 30 minutes.

As soon as you have a SIN number beginning with 5, you can start working.

Service Canada will print out a piece of paper with your SIN on it . Keep it in a safe place, you ONLY give it out to individuals on a need to know basis. Jobs, banks , Federal Government.
FYI, others may ask for you to give it “ voluntarily “, cell phone providers etc, for identification purposes ,but they cannot make it mandatory
