Hi everyone, just have an inquiry. please help me, if you know the answer. I am on a student visa. I already finished a one year program from Mohawk College in December 2016 which was started in January 2016. it was an 8-month program but I failed in a subject so I was a part-time student in fall 2016. I never worked while I was a part-time student. then I took an another one year program from George Brown College. I already finished one semester (Jan 2017). but I took an unofficial summer break and would like to continue my study in fall 2017. I just want to know that can I work full time during this period?

So it is not an official summer break just one you decided to take yourself ? Have the college agreed to this because generally the answer would be no if the break is not a scheduled break given technically you are no longer in full time education so work is questionable ?
That's 100% incorrect. Please don't provide bad information. Working during an unscheduled break is illegal and a violation of the terms of the study permit. Working illegally is a great way to get your study permit canceled and be ordered to leave Canada.
If someone wants to work during an unscheduled break, they need to obtain a closed work permit. To obtain a closed work permit, you need a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA. LMIAs are expensive and the process takes a long time to complete - the vast majority of employers aren't willing to go through the process.
I am experienced person and all my friends did this no problem we all have work permit and one of us already got PR. Your study gap must not be more than 4 months otherwise no problem.
If you already have PR - then you would have gone through the process back when CIC was far more relaxed about these rules. Over the last 2 years or so, CIC has become far more strict and we are seeing far more refusals. For example, people who attended private colleges used to get PGWPs quite easily. Same goes for people who complete more than one part time semester. Not any more - these people are all now being refused. Things have changed. It's not the same as when you went through the process.
dont take any semester off.. because according to new work permit rules, if a person take unofficial off, that person will not get work-permit....

Hey. another thing you should had considered.. PGWP.. I think that will be impacted too.
You aren’t eligible to apply for a PGWP if you:
- studied in a program that was less than eight months long
- studied for more than eight months but not continuously (for example, you took a semester off)
Rules are generally applied against rules effective at the time of application whether old or new makes no difference. So if an effective date was today the applications before today could be processed under old rules but applications from today new rules. Not always implemented this way and changes when announced will be specific change by change.

Doesn't matter. It goes with the application date of your PGWP. So if you will be applying PGWP today or tomorrow it will be under these new rules.

How quickly after starting your studies did you or your friends obtain PR status?
Also, could you tell me anything about how you managed international tuition, since it is quite expensive?

anyone please help me out i was studying at sfu now im planning to change the college and going to study in BCIT but im going to get September term so in between these 4 months, can i work full time and for how many hours?????
