Hi,

Can i work full time for any employer in Canada, while my wife is pursuing her education. Also is there specific that only based on education program type I can work full time such as diploma, certificate or university degree?

Thanks

You can apply for an open work permit based on your wife's study permit. If the OWP is approved, you'll be able to work full time in Canada. It is up to CIC if the OWP is approved - some are and some aren't. Chances are typically higher if your wife is here to complete a university degree.

Thank you for your response.

Is there any chance of getting OWP from outside canada directly ?

Yes, it is actually better to apply at the same time with your wife.

You may be eligible for an open work permit if you are in one of the following situations:

- Permanent residence applicants who have applied to an office in Canada,
- Dependent family members of some permanent residence applicants,
- Spouses and common-law partners of some workers and international students,
- Refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons and their family members,
- Some temporary resident permit holders, or
- Some young workers participating in special programs.
In each of these situations, you must meet additional criteria to be eligible.
