Can I work before my classes start?

I have landed in Canada. I have obtained my study permit, SIN and bank account. My classes begin in 3 weeks. So, I have not yet started studying officially. Am I eligible to work part-time right now? Will it be legal to do so? Will it have any negative effect on my immigration record in any way?

Employers wont care about it but immigration records gets hit.
