hello guys!

My college starts on 11th of January 2016 and if I manage to reach Canada around 15th of December 2015, can I work? (i.e. 20 hrs/ week?) or can i work 40 hrs/week? Or not work at all?

It isn't recommended to work on your First Semester . Although , If you're pretty good in academics and can manage time extensively . You can start working as soon as you get a job As a matter of fact , Most employers don't hire immigrants within 6 months of arrival. If you can find a proper Employer , You're good to go.

Thank you for this information. This'll help. And this also means that if I do find a part time job as soon as I land, I can start working irrespective of when my college commences. Right?

You should be registered as a full time student to be eligible to do a part time.

You can work on Jan.11, because your school starts at that moment. Before you cant work, but you can apply jobs and prepare your social insturance number!

technically you shouldnt work until ur enrolled and registered. Also unless ur very lucky or have great contacts finding a job in first month is very difficult. on an average i would guess it will take about 2-3 months for u to get a job. first month normally goes in registering , finding ur way around the campus, making friends, finding a place to stay and get ur life settled(grocery shopping, internet set up etc)

Hi

I am new to this forum. I have a question - As we all know that we can work for 20hrs/week in Canada on study visa. Can I work as an insurance agent on my study visa? Because I will have my own flexible working hours on this job.

Thanks
