Hi all,

I have a valid work permit in Canada until 2018, and my Express Entry Application is currently processing. I just got a great job offer in the US at a multinational company, and I was considering taking it. However, I was wondering how this would impact my Canadian PR application?

I ultimately want to come back and work in Canada, and my goal was to take this job in the US, and then try to relocate to one of this company's Canadian offices in a year or two from now.

Does anyone have any experience with working abroad during your Canadian PR application?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on the job offer. I don't think CIC will have a problem with it. You've made your intent clear to CIC when you sent your PR application and paid the fees. If you do move, send in a CSE explaining the situation (and your intent to relocate to Canada) and attach relevant documents. There may be some logistical issues of landing and getting PR etc after your app is approved but nothing you shouldn't be able to manage. You will also need to be mindful of the requirements to maintain your PR status in Canada. Other than that, I see no issues. But I do advise consulting a qualified professional. Best wishes to you.
