Don't take leave of absence, as you won't get PGWP after your studies is completed, and generally have to go back home

PGWP is Post Graduate Work Permit, you get it after you complete your studies. Which college and which course are you doing?
No. It is an unscheduled break and you are not allowed to work at all. If you do, you will be working illegally.
I can't answer that for you. If you take a break, you can't work and you will likely end up being refused for a PGWP, so you should be focusing on solutions to allow you to continue studying.
I would be meeting with your international student coordinator. Agree that you can’t work at all if you take an approved break. How to prove that you could afford to study? This is only a 2 year 8 semester program and tuition is relatively reasonably at under 7K.
