I filed an application for renewal of my PR, I was asked to submit many documents from USA, EU and even from Gulf countries.
As with citizenship applications, can I withdraw my application for PR if it gets more complicated?

Please help with what you know in this respect!

Sure - you can withdraw your PR application. However if you have a pending citizenship application, CIC may tell you they are holding further processing of your citizenship application until you have successfully renewed your PR card.

Thanks scylla,

I read sometime back that unlike citizenship applications, PR renewal cannot be withdrawn once submitted. I lost the source link but I think it was on CIC site.

Sure, Citizenship Applications can be withdrawn anytime and I did this about 7 months back.

I dont know if that applies to PR as well. PR is proof of your Canadian residency and its required especially to return to Canada from outside.

I'm afraid, NOT renewing your PR might affect your Citizenship application. However, if you manage to obtain the requested doc's either directly from concerned countries or thru their embassies here, In addition to renewing PR its good for Citizenship application as well.

For PR renewal, I suggest you to speak to CIC call center or professional immigration consultants to take necessary action.
