Can I visit my country while my PR application is in progress?

Hi everyone

I am currently working and living in Canada. My PR application based on Skilled Worker program is in progress. It is in the phase of Background checking. I need to know if I am eligible to visit my home country for couple of weeks? I I do go there then will I need to provide a new police certificate to CiC ? Will this visit to my homeland in anyway affect my current application progress?
