My green card is current and I'm going to submit I-485 form and AP application. But I want to maintain my H1B status so I don't want to AP to enter u.s. otherwise I might lose status in the U.S. if I-485 gets denied.

On the other hand, I cross the border very often using AVR to accumulate the stay in Canada and I do want to keep the movement.

My question: can I still use AVR to cross the border after AP is approved? I just don't want my status to become AOS. Thanks for answering my question in advance.

As you will be doing according to your company lawyer's suggestion, just go with their plan as they are the sponsor of GC and H1. No use of asking here and getting confused more about it instead of keeping things simple.
