I am preparing my documents for my PR application after receiving my ITA.

For my marriage certificate, I have a certified English translation of my Iranian marriage certificate that was completed in 2019. And both the original marriage certificate and the translated content remain unchanged. Can I use this older certified translation, or do I need to obtain a new translation?

One immigration consultant told me that an officer might question why the translation date is several years old. Has anyone submitted an older certified translation successfully, or received any feedback from IRCC regarding this?
I would appreciate any guidance or experiences you can share.

As far as I know an older translation is generally reusable for documents that don't have an expiry date and documents that do not change over time, provided that:
  • The underlying document has not changed.
  • The translation still meets current IRCC requirements.
  • You have the complete translation package (translator's certification, etc.).

I have been reusing old translations (birth certificates, marriage certificate, etc.) I have from 2022 for all my applications including my PR application and so far have not had any issues. But considering yours is a bit older, it may not be a bad idea to retranslate it and be sure.
