Hi all,

I submitted my PR application on new years day. Biometrics were submitted on Feb 1, as soon as the request came through. Today I realised I made a mistake on my NOC code. I filled out the IRCC WebForm detailing my error, apologising and providing the correct NOC code. I also re-submitted the employment reference letter with the updated NOC code.

I submitted the form, but in the Success! information box, I was told that I will not hear back if my application is still within the normal timeframe. It's only been 1 month and 7 days since I submitted my PR application, so it sounds like I won't hear back.

Does this mean they will not update my NOC code at this time? Do I have to wait for the rejection or withdraw and apply again?

looks like up to officer’s discretion. by the sound of it, you selected a waaay different NOC that what you’re supposed to. There are several outcomes for this: officer accepts the noc change or sends you procedural fairness letter justifying the NOC you original selected OR refusal.

also note that, your NOC is based on your responsibilities not job title. So if you found your job title in one NOC but your responsibilities are more in line with another NOC, you have to choose the latter.

There are several threads like this in this forum.

How many points do you have? If you have enough points best option is to withdraw your application, re-enter the Express Entry pool and wait for ITA again.

Yes, you must wait for rejection or withdraw your application before you can reapply.

I have 489 points. I think your right. Withdrawal is the best way to be sure, as my open work permit expires in April. I have all the documentation and information I need so I can re-submit my PR application as soon as I get an ITA. Do people get penalized for withdrawing an application? Like a waiting period to reapply? Do you have to mention you've applied and withdrawn before, in your new application?

I read that the IRCC WebForm reply is within 3 days (if you get one). This same form is used to update addresses, which can easily happen before the normal processing time is complete. So I'm going on the assumption that the Success! message is misleading. I'll wait 3 working days. If I do indeed hear nothing back, I'll withdraw and start over.

Definitely withdraw if you have 489 points. You've made a pretty big error in your application and you could be waiting a long time just for it all to end in refusal.

There's no penalty in withdrawing.

Thanks scylla. I'll withdraw in the next 3 days if I hear nothing back from the WebForm.
