If you requested a refugee status based on what was happening in your country (for instance, targeted persecution), you cannot travel to that country after becoming a Canadian citizen.

Do you need a visa to your native country? If you are not sure, there are details in travel.gc.ca to see if you need one.

There are no issues on the Canadian side. Once you are a citizen and have a Canadian passport, you can travel to your home country without issues.

This is wrong. You cannot travel to your home country while you are a permanent resident only. Once you are a citizen, you can travel to your home country / country of persecution.

Might need a visa to travel with Canadian passport.

Yes.

I'd also warn: if your (former) home country considers you a citizen, entering on the Canadian passport might be forbidden.

And if they consider you a citizen and anything happens to you with authorities, Canada will most likely not be able to do anything. (This is a limitation of international law/Vienna convention - if you're a citizen of that country, your other coutnry of citizenship can only give consular services if that country wants to allow it - Canada has no legal basis to assist or intervene).

Only you can decide of course.

Obviously optics are not great but technically no issue. Not sure what the health issues have to do with it but depending on how long you spend out of Canada you may no longer qualify for healthcare in Canada even with a valid health card. You should check on the residency period required to qualify for healthcare in your province. If you are receiving something like disability or welfare payments you are requirement to notify the government if you leave Canada for a certain period of time.

This is not wrong. I know this for sure as I discussed this with the IRCC at length.

You must have misunderstood. Once you have citizenship you are able to return to your home country. The optics look terrible especially if the reason you claimed asylum would still be an issue but you can visit without risking your status in Canada.

Travel to the home country is absolutely possible after citizenship. It's just not possible as a PR.

Go post this to the Asylum / Refugee section of the forum and post your statement there. You'll have a ton of people who correct you and who will tell you that it's very possible and they have done it themselves.

Why do you want to travel to your home country that made you a refugee? Stuff'em and enjoy life in Canada

Except if the country requires a visa and OP's visa application was denied.
