can i travel USA and back to Canada on expired TRV but valid open work permit?

hello

i need to visit USA for an interview (employer needs one person in Canada). I have valid open work permit but TRV is expired as of May 2016.
Am i allowed to visit USA on expired canadian TRV? i have valid US visit Visa.

I am also ,inland PNP applicant and applied for immigration in August last year to Sydney,NS

Help will be really appreciated

Yes you can. There is no problem with that. I did that last year.

Your canadian visa has nothing to do with travelling to the US but you will not be able to reenter Canada with ano expired TRV . Your work permit is not a travel document it entitles you to work but you need a valid visa to enter Canada

Expired temporary resident visa

You can request to return to Canada on your original temporary resident visa, even if it is expired, if:
- you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
- you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.

Just to be sure apply TRV before you go out of the country. Temporary res visa is different from Work permit. And there is a note in the permit that it will not guarantee you for re-entry. Anyway it will only take days to process it. Its important to get visa anyway you can use it too when your planning to have a vacation out of the country.
