Hello everybody,

So I’ve been trying to get this answer for a while now but no one knows so I figured maybe someone is in this situation here.

I’m french and I have work permit for a skilled position that allow me to stay in Canada.
I would like to apply for AINP but I didn’t finish high school.

So I’ve been thinking about taking the GED. I would study at home and take the test at the Bow valley college but my work permit doesn’t allow me to study.

I feel like taking the GED is not really studying although I had to apply for a student number.

My question is: will I loose my work permit if I take the GED no matter what?

Thank you all

1. As long as you are not attending school, then taking the GED is fine.

Thank you PMM!

So what about the student number I had to apply for to be able to take the test at the local college?

Where did you get this infos from (official link ?) ?

you do not need student number (at least not in Ontario). In fact you are not supposed to be high school student anymore.
So just check internet for GED. You can check if and where is the test center. Thank you can send application (either per post or online). You will pay the fee and then later on you will get invitation for the chosen session and thats it.

Thank you for helping me out vensak.
The thing is that I registred online to create my account on myged.ca to be able to sign in and to take test in a college in the area.
When I registered I’ve been asked to apply for a student number.

So I’m a bit comfused now

For Ontario use this one:

https://www.ilc.org/en-ca/GED/register/individual

No registration required. You can download application there and forward it with a money order by post. Or you can pay online by credit card and send your application online. Again no student number or other things. But for GED test centers it is not that much your preferred college but whatever will be available (they have set places where they do the testing).

hi I’m waiting for her response I’m in the same exact situation
Actually mine is a bit different because I do have my high school diploma but I’m not able to obtain transcripts from the institution to validate with the WES so I’m thinking I might have to take a GED exam , I just don’t know if IRCC will recognize or accept the GED and second I’m not sure if while holding a working temporary permit I’m able to take the GED , I’m very stress and hopeless I desperately need answers and I don’t know where to go
