My father inlaw is here on supervisa and I would like to sponsor him as PR. But my mother in-law is in India and not well and doesn't want to come to Canada. So is it possible to sponsor just him alone? Can u let me know asap

Yes - it's possible to sponsor just one parent and flag the other parent as non-accompanying. Note that the other parent will still have to pass the medical and security/background checks. Also, you must have sufficient income to cover both parents (not just the one you are sponsoring). Lastly, it's your spouse who must sponsor your father in law (you can cosign but can't be the primary sponsor).

Hi I just want to ask what's the best thing to do.

1. I want to sponsor my mother only since they are 16 years separated buy not legally separated. And I dont want to include my father on the application.

2. My common law(plan to co-sign with the application for my mother) just sponsor his ex - wife and son last 2013, buy they already return in their homeland, are they still jncluded in the fakily size?

Thank you.
