I am in Canada with my boyfriend and an art gallery here wants to show my work. Am I able to do this without breaching the "no work" part of the tourist visa?

I am going to be applying for a PR soon through common-law and don't want to jeopardize anything.

Thanks in advance :D

No - you can't. Selling art is the same as working because you're receiving payment for services or goods offered.

Well. What if i had a website and soemone was ordering a print off my website? And they were in Canada? If i were to send them a print and they were to pay me through an electronic transaction wouldn't that be ok?

What is the difference if i am here?

And if this is the case and my gf can't sell art that is ok.

How about if I were to sell the art through my name? And then just pay taxes on whatever i made under my own name?

This is not rocket science.

Visit Canada, follow the rules, if not the letter of the law, try following the intent of the law.

If you really want to cheat the system, don't be surprised if you are not welcomed or allowed into Canada.

I don't want to cheat the system. This is exactly why i am reaching out to make sure we don't engage in any activity that we unaware is illegal regarding her status.

We are going to be applying for PR soon so we will just wait. I thought there were options that we could take in the meantime but i guess not.

Thanks for your help though :)

Also, we did ask the art association of canada about this ... because a lot of artists do visit exhibitions here and sell their work ... so there is a way to do it

they told us that she woudl be able to sell her work under the tourist visa because she isn't being employed by the gallery... but obviously, i don't just want to take their word for it just incase it is invalid

I actually said "IF" you want to cheat the system, giving you the benefit of the doubt.
