Hi,

I have an urgent question that really needs your help!

In Nov. 2022, I applied PR under CEC and got the ITA. Then I submitted all required documents and recceived AOR. I am working with LMIA exempt work permit, and I got additional points (50 pts) because of the valid job offer. I have been working at my current position since Dec. 2020, which I already passed the one-year experience.

I am wondering if I resign my job while waiting PR, will I lose the addiditonal points leading to the PR application failure? Will IRCC call my employer to check my working situation?

AOR (Nov. 22, 2022)
CRS score: 508 (458 + 50 from valid job offer)
Cut off score at ITA: 494.

Thanks a lot!!!

If IRCC verifies your employment by calling your employer after you have quit, then yes, you should expect to lose the 50 points which would obviously put you below the cut off. Whether this will happen is impossible for any of us to guess. But it's possible they could. If you are good with this risk, the you can certainly quit your job. If you do not want any risk of jeopardizing your PR application, you need to keep working with this employer.

Thanks for your help! I have one more concern. If my employer agrees to holding the position for me, will IRCC figure out it?

I don't know what "hold the position" means. Either you're working for them or you're not.

My employer said that I can take unpain leave while he holds the position for me until I am back.
I can't comment on that. I don't know how IRCC would react to that.
