Hello! I got married to my husband back in march! But we recently just sent the immigration papers so I know it will be a while before we get an answer! I currently live in the states! Our plans were for me to move to Canada in December, which is when I'll be done with school! So my question is will I still be able to move there even though I probably won't have my papers by then! Can I wait for my papers over there or do I have to stay here in te states?

Thanks
Carolina

How long can I stay in Canada while waiting for permanent residence?

You can stay in Canada while waiting for your permanent residence as long as you maintain legal status. Temporary resident status is valid for a specific period of time and you must ensure that your status as a temporary resident remains valid while you are in Canada.
