Hi, I have a problem regarding my co-op degree problem that I would love to hear some advice.
I currently have 2021 Winter as co-op term, 2021 Spring(Summer) as my last study term, after which I will graduate. However, I found an internship externally for 2021 Spring(Summer) which I really don't wanna give up on. I went through many websites and forums and it turned out that if I simply take the 2021 Spring off, my school says "
an off term is described as a term where you are not on a study term or co-op work term. IRCC does not always describe this as a regularly scheduled break." It will be seen as authorized leave, during which I guess I cannot take an internship.
Thus I am looking at other options. My school says that the Spring term is scheduled break for regular program students. So I am thinking about dropping co-op program after my 2021 Winter co-op term. Then I will be a regular degree student and might be able to take the internship in the 2021 Spring with a study permit? (Could someone confirm this if they know the related knowledge? Thank you so much!).
If what I said above is possible, I am also wondering whether this will impact my PGWP after my last term in 2021 Fall. All my previous terms are full-time study terms and co-op terms required by the co-op degree. I didn't take any terms off before. Also, my friend who dropped co-op showed me his transcript, all the previous terms still have degree title with "co-op" and have the co-op credit(It shows like a course in the format as co-op 1 CR).
I really appreciate it if you guys can shed some light on my situation.
Thank you very much in advance.
