Can I apply for TRV and work permit at the same time?

Hi, my work permit is expiring soon and I am still waiting for some documentation from my employer to renew it. In the mean time can I apply for TRV? Basically can I hold TRV and worker permits?

Do you need a visa to enter Canada? If so, a TRV would have been issued when you got your work permit. If you had one, is it expired as well?

It expires the same time as my work permit. I am looking to change my status to visitor as my work permit will expire soon.

If you apply for a new work permit this should give you both a work permit and TRV. You will be on implied status until a decision is made and can continue to work during that time.
