No, you need to the work permit to apply to Service Canada for the SIN.

no unless u have on campus employment letter/contract. u have to take the work permit to service canada center to apply for SIN. U wont be able to apply for SIN without either a contract/letter from oncampus employment and study permit or a work permit.

You can't apply for OCWP before you get your EVN from campus.

no need for any contract/form from the employer, since this will be used only for applying SIN, right?

update: actually, im in Coop program, but my coop will start on jan 2015.

Talk to international admissions at your campus. You won't be able to apply for OCWP until you have your evn and you can't get your evn until you have been enrolled and studying fullt ime for 6 months AND are in good academic standing.
