Can I apply for other country's visa while Canada study permit is in process?

So my Canada study permit is in process but I am feeling like to visit some other country for 2 weeks for which I also need visa. It would be short term visit visa. Canadian embassy haven't asked me for my passport yet and the process usually takes 1-3 months so I guess I have plenty of time. What do you recommend?

Yes to your questions you can apply visa and visit other countries while you have study permit in process at cic. just check your email regularly wherever you are as they might request passport or something.

BTW normal processing time for my country (Pakistan) is 12 weeks.
