Can I apply for EE while on student permit???

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to this forum and I was hoping to get some direction on the EE process and if I should go for it right now.

I am currently in India and will be joining a masters program in Canada this fall. I have already received my student permit and am awaiting my wife's OWP. I checked the amount of CRC points I have currently and its around 440.

My question is, can I apply for the EE entry even before I reach Canada or should I waiting to reach Canada and then apply for it. I am currently waiting for WES to complete the assessment and I am also in the process of collecting the PCC from the countries I lived in.

Kindly guide on if I can start the application and if there would be any issue with applying before reaching Canada.

I believe that you can and should join the EE pool and it will not affect your current status. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. By any chance do you know at what stage in case my PR is approved will the passport be required to be sent to immigration. Also what would be the timeline of converting to PR. I know that once I receive the invitation to apply I have 2 months to submit and takes another 6 months after that. I am right in the timeline or am I off somewhere?

After the invitation, you have 90 days to submit it and it usually takes 6 month to process your application. After 3 - 4 months from the application day they may request your passport.
