Can I apply for closed workpermit while my PR is in progress

Hello there,

I have applied for PR under CEC and received my AOR.
Now my company wants to send me to Canada on workpermit soon.

Should I inform my employer about my PR application?
If I wont inform will there be any problem with my Workpermit?

Will I get my workpermit without any issues?
Or, my workpermit will be rejected since my PR is in progress?

Hey Rosy,

Work permit applications & PR applications are two separate things. Two different process procedures. One does not have anything to do with the other. So rest assured none will be effected.

This is not true! Bridging open work permit only works when you are in Canada and you are on a work permit and you only have 4 months or less on it. On the other hand she can most definitely apply for a closed work permit when ever she wants to. This of course needs the employer's support.

Since your PR is already in progress, it will be very hard for you to prove that you intend to leave Canada after your WP expires. That is the premise for a grant of a WP. I doubt your WP will get approved while your PR is being processed. but anything can happen. No harm in applying.
