Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for my PPR and I applied for CEC back in March. I received an invitation to apply today so my question will it affect my PPR application? delay it or cancel it? Or can I safely apply for the open work permit and wait to get PPR?

Thanks,

Sofrofro

Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for my PPR and I applied for CEC back in March. I received an invitation to apply today so my question will it affect my PPR application? delay it or cancel it?
I am baffled why you would have submitted another profile if you were waiting for a PPR. However, you cannot have 2 applications in process for the same program. Suggest you decline the ITA. If your application is refused, then you can apply again.

Or can I safely apply for the open work permit and wait to get PPR?
If you meet the other eligibility requirements for the BOWP, you could have applied right after submitting the CEC application. But if your CEC application has already passed the R10 completeness check, even better.

The other requirements are that:
- you have a current valid work permit that will expire within 4 months
- you are in Canada

Thanks Jes_ON - to answer your question. I submitted my PPR application in April a little later than usual for personal reasons. I wasn't waiting for PPR just yet when I applied for CEC.

You say "you cannot have 2 applications in process for the same program" but it isn't the same program so would do you mean by that?

Thanks again,

Sofro

It is tough to understand what you're trying to say because you're using one of the terms incorrectly (PPR means passport request), there is no such thing as a PPR application.

I agree with DelPiero and Jes_ON. I assumed you might have applied for the paper based PR. If that is the case, yes you can file another EE application since they are two different categories. But you can't apply twice in the same category. (If you are waiting for the passport request, aka PPR, why would you apply again?)

Yeah, sorry, you're going to have to explain what you mean by PPR application,

sorry i meant PR application - not sure why I used PPR.

I'm going to have to make assumptions to try to understand what you're asking.

1 - If you mean that you have a paper based application being processed then yes, you can apply via Express Entry and such application won't be affected.
2 - If you're asking whether you can apply for a BOWP based on your AOR of your EE application then yes, you can do so assuming you meet the requirements for a BOWP.

thanks for all your responses - I think I have my answer now! sorry about the confusion, all those acronyms are confusing :)
