Can I apply for a work permit while staying in Canada on a Visitor Visa ?

Hello there,

Can I apply for a work permit while staying in Canada on a Visitor Visa ? One of the Canadian Employers wants to hire me but she is not able to get a positive LMIA, without which I cannot apply for a work permit from my home country that is INDIA. Will it make any difference if I go there on a Visitor Visa and apply for a work permit from Canada, then does my employer still needs to get a positive LMIA ?? Will my process of applying for a work permit become easier if I am there on a visitor visa rather than applying from here in INDIA ?

Also, what is the maximum duration of stay of a Visitor Visa that one can get ?

1. It still requires an LMIA
2. If the employer gets the LMIA, then you still have to apply outside Canada, as visitors can't apply in Canada (there are a couple of exceptions, but you wouldn't fall into those}
3. Most are given 6 months on entry.
