Hi
My wife have sponsored me VISA and dependent work permit and it is valid for next two years.
She wants to leave Canada now.

Can dependent stay in Canada?

OR

Dependent has to move along with the sponsored person. Is dependent tagged with sponsor? Please clarify?

Thanks

She has Closed work permit. She have sponsored dependent Open work permit.
When she is no longer in any status in Canada after she left the country how can you stay as dependent?

My wife's work permit is valid. In future, she may come back before the work permit got expired.

We have inquired CIC regarding my stay. They said, I can stay in Canada as long as my dependent work permit and VISA are not expired.

But my wife got a mail from her immigration team and they "advised" me to leave.
There are two opinion.

Any suggestion please.

Amazingly, the answer from CIC is correct. You don't have to leave and you can carry on working until your open work permit expires. It seems unreasonable but that appears to be the rule.

Truly amazing but maybe not a good idea to leave the country at any point just in case.

Do you both have a Perminant Residency Card?

There are many cases of a husband and wife having PR and both divorcing whilst in Canada. If you both have PR, either one of you can stay in Canada regardless as to who the main applicant was.

Perminant residency means permanent residency. Divorces can and will happen, it's a fact of life so regardless as to your wife leaving for whatever reason, if you have a PR card then it gives you residency.

This is not a PR related case. It's about work permits.
