Can dependent on student visa stay if student stops studying for 1 year (then come back)

Hi friends,
I'm an international student in Ontario. My husband has a open work permit which I think may depend on my student visa. Now I have problems in my own country that I need to stop studying and go back to my country for 1 year then return to Canada to continue studying. In that case, is my husband allowed to stay while Im not in Canada? Or he has to leave the same time with me.

Work permit is valid until stated in the permit. He can stay until his authorized stay.
You will need to get a new study permit
