I just finished my refugee hearing and am currently waiting for my NoD. My boyfriend is a US green card holder, and we’re planning to get married later this year.
Our biggest concern is that we really want to live together, but we’re currently in two different countries. Once I receive my NoD, I plan to submit my PR application right away — but I’m not sure:
Am I allowed to leave Canada and live in the US with him while waiting for my Canadian PR to be processed?
Or am I required to stay physically in Canada throughout the entire process?
We’re trying to find a legal way to be together during this time without putting my PR application at risk. If anyone has been through something similar or has advice on how to avoid being separated for a long time, I’d be so grateful to hear from you. Thanks in advance!
