Hi everyone!

My boyfriend, from Ireland applied for a 2-year Working Holiday Visa back in August 2013 and had to move back in October 2015 (stayed 2 more months as visitor). We are wondering if there is the option for him to apply for another working visa seeing as he will be out of Canada for 2 years this upcoming October. I feel like I read something about a certain about of years until you can apply again. I am currently working/living in Ireland and we are planning to apply for common-law sponsorship soon, but want to see if another visa is possible? He will be out of Canada for 3 years come the month when my visa expires in 2018.

Thank you

He can participate a second time but only under the co-op category.

If you are already common-law, get the sponsorship app submitted now and he will most likely be a PR by the end of the year or earlier.

We won't be able to start applying until August this year as that is when we have 1 year cohabitation.

So essentially, he would need to be sponsored by a specific employer, correct?

It's more involved than that. He needs to meet the following requirements:

This category is for you if:

You’re a student registered at a post-secondary institution
You have a job offer for a work placement or internship in Canada
You need to do this work placement or internship to complete your studies
You’ll work for the same employer in the same location during your stay in Canada
