Sorry if this question seems pretty vague, I am going to try being as thorough as possible because I can't seem to find much information online or other peoples experiences.

My older brother who is a PR and lives in Alberta applied for the parent sponsorship lottery in January 2018, at the time I was under 21 and included as a dependent. About a month later we received an email stating that we were chosen and included the list of paperwork that we needed to submit including birth certificates, passport pictures, eimm5669, imm0008, imm1344, imm5406, imm5409, imm5748, imm5768, and imm5771 with a deadline of mid May.

We submitted all of the requested paperwork before the deadline and on August 23 my brother received an email from the "Case Processing Centre Mississauga" stating that our application has been accepted under the intake cap of 2018.

What does this email exactly mean and what happens next? I'm not able to find much information that contains step by step of what happens next. If it makes any difference, my mother and I are being sponsored from Beirut, Lebanon.

Thank you!

If your brother received acknowledgement of receipt of receipt (AOR) from IRCC.....then the sponsorship application package is complete and put in the process queue.

Although your brother had been selected in the lottery to sponsor.......IRCC will review the sponsorship application to determine if your older brother the sponsor meets sponsor requirements like minimum necessary income requirement for each of the three taxation years immediately preceding the date of the sponsorship application......if your older meets the sponsor requirements, he will be approved to sponsor.

refer......Minimum Necessary Income requirement for sponsors of parents and grandparents

After your older brother is approved to sponsor.......your parents and their dependents (children) included in the application and applying for permanent residence must go through:
  • medical exams
  • criminal checks
  • background checks
You will probably be contacted by IRCC to do medical exam, biometrics, and if any additional document is required to support your application, may be asked to provide the documents and IRCC will do criminality and background checks......check IRCC site for processing times (family sponsorship).

Thank you for being thorough and shining some light on the topic!

When you say "if your brother received acknowledgement of receipt of receipt (AOR) from IRCC" are you referring to the email that we received? After the email states that our application has been accepted for the intake of 2018 it continues saying that we are also given a application number and that this number also acknowledges receipt of our payments.

Is this what you were referring to or are you referring to something else completely different?
