I haven't yet met a single person who can answer this properly. So, I'm trying to find the answer here. I'm an international student in Canada. My relatives in Canada sometimes give me cash to buy my groceries. When I visited 3 to 4 relatives, I got about $1000. Can I deposit that money in my bank account? Some of my friends say there'll be a problem during post graduation work permit or PR process if I deposit cash in my bank account. Some say there will be a problem only if the amount is too big. But no one is able to tell me how much is that "big" amount. Can anyone clarify it to me? It would be a great help. Thank you.

Are applicants expected to submit bank statements when applying for PGWP?

If the concern is that the applicant has been exceeding the 20 hours weekly working limit, then it would have to be regular cash deposits of an amount substantial enough to trigger suspicion. Nobody has relatives that generous who will give away hundreds of dollars of grocery money for months together. Experienced officers should be able to tell when things don't look ok and if indeed one is just receiving cash from relatives it should not be difficult to prove
