HEy everyone

My wife wants to sponsor her mother to Canada (from Philippines) to visit for a few months. Just to visit, not to live. I would have to be her co-signer to meet the income requirements. However, I've been charged and convicted of a sexual offense in 2001. I can't get a pardon due to the new Pardon / Record Suspension Law.

What are the chances that her application to sponsor her mom will be denied just because *I*, as the co-signer, was convicted of a sexual offense?

What was the charge? Did you do any jail time?

You conviction has no bearing on your wife's invitation to her mother.

Never served jail time, only some house arrest followed by probation, but the crime has a maximum punishment of at least 10 years. (I believe on the application form it asks if you were convicted of a crime with a maximum punishment of at least 10 years). The crime was possession and distribution of child pornography.
