Unfortunatley I don't have enough hours for my Live-In Caregiver as my kids will be in school full time and will need to lay her off by the summer( with 3 months advance notice). If for some reason, she can't find a job, would she be entitled to EI?

If she holds a valid work permit and she has worked enough hours for EI claim, she can be covered. For hours to be eligible, she can consult with Service Canada or check online to find out. You as an employer will need to provide her with a record of employment and a letter stating she is temporarily laid-off.

Hi,

Here is a thread of TFW who were denied EI by Service Canada. We can only hope that your LIC proves to be more lucky:

Thanks! In Ontario do I need to pay 4% vacation pay on top of the 2 weeks paid holiday I gave to the employee?
