hi all, my husband and i are planning to apply under the MPNP program? can my husband's first cousin sponsor us? I may be the principal applicant because i am a nurse, can a cousin in law sponsor? i really hope to get your feedbacks. thanks! :)

forgot to include my other question, since i am a nurse, do i have to be licensed first with the province or can i just take it there just in case we may be considered under the family stream?

dunno about the second question .. but the first question.. yes .. your husbands cousin can sponsor you.. when my sister applied back in 2005 .. she was the principle applicant and her sponsor was her husband's maternal uncle's wife.. and she got nominated and moved to Canada in 2006.. cheers

You may start your research regarding your profession even before you move to Manitoba in case you get your Permanent Resident Visa. After landing, you need to get in touch with regulatory bodies to get your credentials assessed and other relevant info on how to get licensed to practice as a nurse in Manitoba. Good luck!

thank you so much for your time to respond :) . I am really a bit confused as to whether get a license to register first because under the general stream, im only required to take the general type of IELTS, right? but ive checked the website of Licensed Practical Nursing in Manitoba and as expected, they are requiring an academic type of IELTS. I already sent an inquiry about this through the website of manitoba immigration and their response was just to review whats written on the web.
Does it mean that I have to take up 2 different IELTS (general and academic) or will they accept academic under the family stream?
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. thanks again :) :)

Hi. I'm not sure on how you must resolve this confusion. But as far as I know, if you will ask Manitoba immigration regarding the issue with IELTS, they will only give information relevant to your application for provincial nomination. They cannot, and will not give information regarding foreign credentials recognition, licensing, etc. If you are required to take IELTS for nomination purposes, then you must follow the instructions of MPNP. When you eventually land in Canada and would want to pursue your nursing profession, then you must comply with the rules of the responsible nursing regulatory bodies. That may include taking another language test. From the experience of some people I know, the language requirement for the nursing profession is much higher than that for immigration purposes. I think you don't have to take 2 IELTS exams at the moment. For MPNP purposes you might need only the general. When you are in the process of getting licensed as a nurse, that may be the time to take another one. I don't think you can get licensed if you are not yet a permanent resident of Canada. However, don't just take my word for it. You might need to do more research on this matter. Hope this helps in any way. Good luck!
