Can 2 Canadian Visas be active at the same time? help!!!

Dear friends,

I'm on cross-roads again. My FSW-I is in process and my employer wants me to go on a project to Canada for a period of 8-10 months.

I will be on multi-entry Worker visa and my wife and kd on multi-entry Visitor visa. During this time, if CHC ND asks for passports, I plan that family can fly back to India with my passport, get the stamping done and come back to Canada. But, at this point, my family will have 2 active visas - 1. Visitor, 2. PR. Since, I would not have done my landing formalities by then, my family will not be able to enter on PR visa. Will they be able to enter on the Visitor via in such a scenario?
