Hey everyone! I have received a letter from CBSA for a call in notice for an interview on May 2nd 2025, mainly because my claim was denied, but I’m not sure what to do because I don’t know what to expect at the interview I’m so nervous and afraid they will send me back home to my home country, is there anyone here who can help me out please if you have any information or have been in this situation before. Because I want to know what will be the next step and what can I do.

Make sure you go and don't skip the interview. Hopefully they will offer you PRRA. Are you working with a lawyer?

Yes I am working with a lawyer and I am not yet eligible for a prra because it’s not yet a year since I appealed for a judicial review, so what do you think will happen when I go to the interview.

Impossible to say but if you have always been cooperative with IRCC and CSBA and have no criminal history you should be able to go home that day.

This was unfortunately a very big mistake.

I assume your lawyer is aware? What does your lawyer say and recommend at this point?

If your lawyer did not tell you that it was super important not to miss this interview you need to find another one, as this one does not seem familiar with the consequences.

I honestly don’t know what to do right now.
Let me give you a tip

I used to work for the CRA , not the IRCC , not the CBSA , but it’s the Government, and policy is basically the same when they want to talk or meet with a person

Very first thing we learnt in training is that if the Government wants meet you, you DO NOT IGNORE THEM.

This isn’t a game

Nothing ticks off a Government official more than that

Many a time I talked to people where the Government has sent letters regarding collections and the person ignores them .

Soon they’ll find there bank accounts frozen , bank accounts drained and liens placed on property , cars etc
The Government sets the rules , you don’t
Then they’d call me . We can see all interactions on accounts .
And once enforcement has started…

I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t put out an immigration arrest warrant

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/security-securite/arr-det-eng.html

A CBSA officer may issue a warrant for the arrest and detention of a permanent resident or foreign national if the officer has reasonable grounds to believe the individual is inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and:

  • poses a danger to the public
  • is unlikely to appear for an examination, an admissibility hearing, a removal from Canada or at a proceeding that could lead to the making of a removal order by the Minister's Delegate
You’d be under the second bullet point
