Dear All,

There is a question being asked to a few people, to show tickets at the time of landing. I am not able to understand that why are they asking for this and what action will they take, if someone has a return ticket in case and they are coming for a short landing, then what Immigration Officer will do?

If anyone in this forum, has observed this thing or came to know from someone in their contacts who have faced such scenario?

I am keen to know what immigration officers will do if someone is coming for a short landing and they are being asked by immigration officer to show the return tickets then what is usual result of that? Do they (immigration officer) still apply for PR cards or not? If not, then what alternate thing they do?

I am coming for short landing of 2 weeks and have come to know from a few people that sometimes, they do ask to show the ticket if its return then what is their course of action?

As question were asked to 2 people i know, but both of them were luckily coming for permanent landing and were having only one way tickets so they showed it to the officer. I want to know for the other case, seniors please share your experience.

Thank you.

What the heck is that? It is your right to buy whatever ticket you want and you have no obligations to stay in Canada for certain time frame after you land. Actually you can turn around right in the airport and fly back on the same day.

A friend of mine recently landed in Toronto though she was intended to live in Calgary. That was her short two-weeks trip to land, complete all formalities, open a bank account, make SIN and return back.

Moreover, what if you have electronic tickets only when you need your ID to travel and you get a virtual boarding pass to show it from your mobile device?

if you're yet to buy your tickets, you may want to consider buying one way to Canada and then buy a return ticket from there since you'd eventually return to Canada anyways. That's if you're still not comfortable. .. BTW, it's cheaper to buy a return ticket from Canada.

Top of the morning to everyone in the forum. I landed in Alberta with my family 2 weeks back and I thank God that we are settling in very well. That said, I have a big challenge in obtaining a driver license here at alberta because my wallet mysteriously disappeared on me at MMA while trying to checkin. Every effort to get a replacement back from home don't seem to be working. As I have been told, the license cannot be reissued in absentia, so I have to be physically present at the FRSC office(nigeria licensing body) to have the license reissued. I still remember the details on the misplaced license as I was able to pull out my details from the FRSC website with my ID number and my date of birth. Also, a contact back home said it might be possible for him to assist me with an international driver license, but I need to know if my misplaced license details or an international driver license can assist me in any way.

Normally you have to surrender your home country original driver license.

Please contact the authorized registry agent to know if something can be done in your case.

Dear all, im landing in Calgary soon and i have a question.
My flight will land im Toronto first via EgyptAir, then i have a connecting flight from Toronto to Calgary via Canada Airlines with 3:25 hours transit in Toronto.
Will they finalize my landing documents in Toronto or in Calgary ??
If in Toronto, how long it takes to finish it as my bags will be transfered to the other plan going to Calgary?

Your landing formalities will be completed in Toronto.

It may take 1 to 3 hours for the formalities to be completed at the Toronto Airport depending upon the load at your time of arrival.

Pls check with your airlines. You may have to take your luggage at the Toronto airport and carry it along to be transferred to your next flight to Calgary.

What happens if the connecting flight is in Montreal?
Do we have to complete landing in Quebec and are we alowed to?

In that case, your landing formalities will be completed in Montreal then you will have to proceed to your connecting flight.

Landing formalities is always completed at the first Canadian port of entry.
