I've a full time Job as child care worker ( NOC 4214 - B level) in a group home. Since it's live in based work environment my work hours changes according to schedule, it is not weekly based. Per day 12 hours of work period is calculated towards payroll. Since it's continues work some weeks I've more than 30 hours and some weeks 0. Anyways I'll get 14 working days in a month (at least 168 hours). How does this situation affects my work experience (1 year or equivalent or full time of 30 hours/week) to apply PR under experience class?

You look at the total hours.

  • at least 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 hours total (30 hours per week)—you can meet this in a few different ways:
    • Full-time at 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • Equal amount in part-time: 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • Full-time at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Thanks for the reply, My concern is that some weeks i get more than 30 hours (around 84 hours) and other weeks i work 0 hours. So even if I work for a year and have 1560 hours will they accept my work experience ?

As long as your work experience for the first year is continuous with the same employe. Many people work shift work.
