Calculating Experience under NOC 4011

Hi,

I did my BSc Engineering in Dec 2005 and joined my university as a lecturer on Jan 2006. At the same time I also enrolled in Msc and completed by Msc in May 2009. On Aug 2010; I joined a PhD program in USA and my university awarded me study-leave with 100% Salary. I completed by Phd in May 2016 and came back to my university and to date working there.

In university records; I am a full time employee since Jan 2006 (Joined as Lecturer) to date (Current Designation is also Lecturer).

I will be using NOC 4011 (University Professors and Lecturer).

My Questions:

1. In EE Profile; It asks for the date when I qualify for NOC; Will it be the date I joined as Lecturer (Jan 2006) or when I completed my Msc Engineering (May 2009).
2. Will Study Leave (With 100% Salary) be counted towards my experience?

Thanks,

My thoughts on your first question: if you read the description for NOC 4011, it states that a Masters degree is needed to be a lecturer, so I would put the date you were awarded your Msc. You can always explain the situation after ITA to clarify the situation.

I'm not sure of the correct answer to your second question. If you weren't actually working during that time then it seems wrong to claim it as work experience, but presumably in your employment letter your line manager would confirm that you have been employed full time as a lecturer since 2006. Again, personally, I would play it safe and list those years as years in FT study in pursuit of a PhD, but others will probably advise differently.

for first question, you can check the minimum requirements for the post of lecturer, (IMO it is MSc), then the date should be when you completed MSc.
For second one, IMO, no, you should not include this experience in your profile as you were not physically present. CIC verifies all the information. So you should be very careful.

Thanks,

Question:

Will my experience prior to Msc will be counted?

As I was on leave and not resigned and was getting salary as well, therefore university gave me the experience certificate since Jan 2006.

I think you must put all work exp since 2006. you just need to prove working hours which matches requirement. Masters degree requirement is for getting a job in Canada and not a necessity/requirement to consider any NOC.( for applicants outside Canada) So you can put all work exp.

Why take a chance of mistaken as misinterpretation. I will advise you should consult with a immigration consultant.

I am in exactly the same situation. Does my experience before getting msc count? My NOC is 4011. I work as a lecturer from October, 2014 but my msc was completed on October, 2017. Any reliable answer will really be invaluable for me in this situation.
