I know this has probably been asked somewhere by someone in the world but the accounts I've managed to find thus far have a bad end. So I'm anxious and very concerned as I really REALLY don't want to mess it up.
Basically, my CAL was sent to me last Friday (14NOV) and because I work through the weekend I only managed to set up my CIC account the same night; finish most my documents Saturday night and I applied for a Police check Sunday night. Since the time limit on the CAL is now 15 days, mine expires on November 29. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) website said it was about a 15 work day turnover for the Police Check.
I know I can submit a Letter of Explanation under my CIC optional documents to say that I've paid and to give them an approximate date of when to expect me to upload the Police Check document BUT the accounts I've read of this have said that CIC still rejected their application on the basis of an expired CAL- hence my worry.
Now being the very worrisome person I am and because I have a 3 year long distance girlfriend over in Canada (known for 7 years >_< I know, about time I made this move), I called up the AFP and asked to pay premium to have my Police Check fast tracked.... but no luck, seems there's no such service. And to make matters worse, I also asked to check the waiting time on it and the lady informed me it was 25 working days; not 15. Which means my Police check will probably get to me at least 3 weeks after my CAL expires. Possibly even 4 or 5 weeks after considering in postage time.
At this point I'm just desperately grabbing at strings trying to get this to work out. I've delayed going to Canada for a over a year now because of personal commitments amongst other things and it's driving me insane. I will have all my documents submitted by tonight but this situation is making it seem like my attempts are futile..
