Hey everyone! After dealing with getting my hubby's stay extended last night (visitor record expired so he flagpoled at Sumas), we just got our CAIPS notes in the mail today! When I first saw the thick envelope from CIC my heart sank (we've been waiting on an email for the PPR) but then I saw the Ottawa/Access to Info and Privacy stamp.
I've been reading the notes over all night trying to decode them and hope they mean happy things. My only concern on our application is a DUI my husband received in 1998. It's been 13 years but I'm still paranoid they might try to claim criminal inadmissability. Nothing showed up on his FBI record but we opted to tell the truth when asked if he'd ever been convicted, etc.
This is what the IO wrote: ~SUBJ PROVIDES A CLEAN FBI PC, HOWEVER HE STATES HE WAS CHARGED WITH A DUI IN OCT/98. WILL REQUEST STATE PCS AND COURT DOCS. This was on Sep 27. Also on the same note it's written that the relationship appears bona fide, recommend waiver of interview. Sep 30 was when the request for docs was made, then Oct 21 they note the docs were received and "Pulling for officer review". Oct 27 the note is "to officer"
So far PS DECISION is "1" (passed), SELECTION DECISION is "4" (waived), both on Sep 30. Waiting on the rest of the decisions to be filled in. RPRF marked as received and Medicals assessed (no medical conditions).
The next important bit is "paper file sent to CN File BF'd to: CNO on 01-01-2011." I wish I knew if the CN/CNO were departments or initials. My guess is that the file is now sitting waiting to be reviewed/finalized. I'm hoping that the initial pass decision is a good indication and we'll hear something soon.
For anyone wondering about ordering the CAIPS, we submitted just before Christmas using the Privacy Act option (the applicant was in Canada, no cost). The letter that came with the notes states the request was received on Dec 29, and the date the letter was mailed to us was Jan 27.
