Hi all

Question 1. What exactly is CAIPS notes. And when do you need them?

Question 2. When we sent our apps in we only paid the sponsor and Applicant fees but not the Right of Permanent Residence Fee. So far we have not yet received SA but after we do can we go ahead and pay this option? What would be the best procedure to do it. The VO of my spouse is Vienna. Can we pay this straight to them or do the online thing and send the receipt to CPC-M?

Thanks in advance

CAIPS notes is now called GCMS notes (Global Case Management System).

The online e-cas system which provides the status of an application provides very little information about what is happening to your application. Visa offices also discourage people calling them to find out the status of an application. GCMS provides a way for an individual to find out at what exact stage your application is in and what notes/remarks did a visa officer mentioned on your file. These provide clues and help you clear out certain doubts. For example, your email address in their records might be incorrect (spelling mistake etc) as a result, you may never get any emails from them. Secondly it also states if you have cleared the various stages (sponsorship, medical, background checks etc). It takes about a month to get these notes.

In case your application takes longer than the normal times for your specific visa office, it is a good idea to order these notes to find out why it is so.

RPR fee can be paid at any time. It is best to pay it online - so that it is easier to track and is faster too (for CIC to apply the payment to your application). Receipts for online payments can be sent via email to CPC-M.

Thank you so much sakamath.

HOw do you get those notes? You order them online and they send to you via email or what?
Is GCMS notes different from the Ecas . Sorry if I shower you with questions my friend!

Also for the online payment you say that after I pay and get the receipt to send it via email? To where, Mississauga and to include with it some type of case ID? Otherwise how would they know?

Thank you again

No problems with the questions!

You can get the GCMS notes either via email (easier) or by mail (postal delays may result in late receipt of notes). One thing I forgot to mention is that you can either ask for soft-copy (Status of Application) of the GCMS notes or the actual physical copy of all documents in your file. In most cases, the soft-copy will suffice. Getting a physical copy would delay processing of your application as CIC has to send the file from Local Visa office to Ottawa (where all GCMS notes are processes) and then back.

GCMS notes is a separate division in CIC, located in Ottawa and all requests are processed at this place. Hence, you send a copy of the online payment receipt along with your application form and consent form (if required) to the email address at Ottawa (which is ATIP-AIPRP<at>cic<dot>gc<dot>ca)

For CAIPS notes you can applied by:

Hi Camelboy and thank you

1. As you describe it this process is not for me because I do not live in Canada. (I am Canadian living overseas)

2. The two links for payment do not work!

3. I still do not understand what type of info would I get from this!

4. If they do send me the info, would they continue updating until our process is over?

Thanks again

1. Do you have a friend who can apply on behalf of you otherwise you need to pay 30-40 dollar to third party company who can apply on behalf of you, if you have a friend/family member it is cheaper it is only $5.

2. Here is the correct link https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?lob=6

3. You will get a a lot of pages with codes, you can search the forum with the words " GCMS codes" and you will find details of each code, these information is saved by your Visa officer and will be very helpful to know the the progress of your application and incase you need an interview it may help you to know why they want you for an interview.

4. Yeah you can order it every 2-3 months and the VO will update it everytime, because tthe GCMS is database used by the Visa officer and Ottawa Office has access to your information and can extract such information on behalf of you. But in the form you should select electronic file and not physical file, otherwise the VO will pull up your physical file and may bring some delay.

Thank you very much my friend. In the months to come I will have all the time to get to understand all these.

Take care
