Bringing wife into Canada

Hello, I just got my PR here in Canada. I am planing to marry my girlfriend in my home country, and its one of those countries that dont need visa to come to Canada. If I marry her there in my home country, and bring her back here when I come back, is there a time limit that she can stay in Canada? Lots of people talk about extending visitors visa, but since am from a country that dont need visa to come here, am not sure where I am in that case. I am planing to take my wife in and then once we are here, I can then apply to sponsor her. I have a good job here in Canada and I am well established here in Canada, my new home.

If she doesn't need a visa to come to Canada, it means that she can stay in Canada as a tourist for up to 6 months. She could come with you but she would not be able to work or apply for health care. If 6 months pass and she has not yet gotten her PR, she would need to have applied for a visit visa extension.

If you apply inland, you could send a visit visa extension and request for open work permit on first stage approval along with her inland application but be aware that inland generally takes longer than outland and it's not advised to leave Canada while it's being processed since if for any reason she is denied entry again, you lose the application.

If you apply outland, the application will be partially processed in her homeland. She would not qualify for an open work permit but would usually get the PR faster. She would still have to apply to extend visit status if her 6 months are about to expire.
